Mary Nesbitt
Mary Nesbitt, a native of Georgetown, S.C., is an adjunct professor of English at Charleston Southern University who relocated to Hollywood, S.C. from Upper Marlboro, M.D. in 2012. She currently serves as president of the Greater Charleston Chapter of The Drifters, Inc., a national organization of women dedicated to charitable and civic work in their respective communities. Nesbitt has also worked actively in her community through her involvement with The Urban League, Teacher Education Advisory Council, and Children's Defense Fund.
She earned a bachelor's degree in English from Claflin University and a master's degree in Administration and Supervision from Johns Hopkins University. During her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband, reading, and painting with watercolors.
Mary was first appointed to the CCPL Board of Trustees in 2017, and was appointed again in December 2022.
