    • Abstract:
In one large multidisciplinary private university, the order to move online came slowly with little or no cross-campus consultation. Initial decisions were for faculty to stay home, and for staff to continue to come on-campus to work. Then, the decision was to keep the university open, but to significantly reduce the presence of people. Very quickly, the campus became empty. One positive characteristic of this campus' leaders was the commitment to communication--notices, announcements, directives, and orders started being distributed in March, and continue today. It has been easy to identify the primary way the pandemic was attacked on this campus-- the decision was made to spend money and resources on remodeling, and hardware and software. However, the single most-needed area of support was people--trained support people--specifically instructional designers and faculty developers.
