The purpose of this study was to expand upon the existing research on the relationship between parenting styles, general deviance, and romantic infidelity. It was hypothesized that the adult children of parents who practiced authoritative parenting would report less favorable attitudes toward, and fewer incidences of, general deviance and infidelity. Participants were administered the "Parental Authority Questionnaire" (Buri, 1989) and the "Attitudes toward Sexual Infidelity Scale" (Hunyady, Josephs, & Jost, 2008). The data provided only partial support for the hypothesis, in that mothers' authoritativeness was significantly negatively related to frequency of deviance and infidelity. There was no significant relationship with attitudes toward deviance, academic dishonestly or infidelity. In addition, no significant relationships were found between any of the dependent variables and fathers' authoritativeness.
