    • Abstract:
      For decades, research has explored the learning experiences of students in community college. This study adds to the existing literature and brings in the learning experience for community college students since the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study was to explore how COVID-19 shifted the learning experience for criminal justice students attending Bronx Community College within the City University of New York (CUNY). Students were invited to share their learning experience since COVID-19 via one-on-one interviews, specifically focusing on their engagement with faculty and staff. Findings of the study highlight that students preferred online learning, appreciated easy accessibility and engagement with faculty, acknowledged academic advisors, and hoped for opportunities to engage in experiential learning. Tinto (1993) discussed the importance of institutional engagement in community college as a tool to encourage student persistence. A blend of previous and new literature can be used as a tool to restructure the learning experience for criminal justice students in community colleges, specifically in online learning platforms.
