Abstract: This report contains six tables of summary statistics for the public schools of New York State, including schools in New York City. The public schools of New York served 2,637,745 students as of February 1994. Information about these students, their teachers, and the schools they attended, is presented in the following tables: (1) District type; Racial/Ethnic Distribution of Enrollment; Attendance Rate; Dropouts and Youth at Risk; High School Graduates; and Pupil-Teacher Ratio; (2) Classroom Teachers: Percent Minority, Annual Turnover Rate, Median Salary, Certification Status, Median Years' Experience, and Educational Attainment; Total Expenditures per Pupil, New York State Revenue Share, and Combined Wealth Ratio; and Percent of Expenditures per Pupil for Major Functions; (3) Results of Pupil Evaluation Program, Program Evaluation Tests, and Preliminary Competency Tests; (4) Results of Regents Examinations in Comprehensive English, Global Studies, U.S. History and Government, and Comprehensive French; (5) Results of Regents Examinations in Comprehensive Spanish and Sequential Mathematics I, II, and III; and (6) Results of Regents Examinations in Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
