    • Abstract:
When the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) put a black‐box warning on antidepressants 10 years ago, it was because of a risk of suicidal thinking in young people — the very symptom for which the medications are indicated. There were immediate concerns that patients wouldn't get needed treatment, that doctors would be discouraged from prescribing, and that the worst of unintended consequences — increased suicides — would follow.
