- Abstract:
The article focuses on the U.S Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit's decision in case Entergy Nuclear Vermont Yankee v. Shumlin, in which Entergy brought suit against the Governor and Attorney General of the state of Vermont. It discusses the Vermont statutes that were preempted by the Atomic Energy Act (AEA) and required Entergy to obtain permission for building spent nuclear storage facilities, and the economic and environmental effects of long-term storage of nuclear waste.
