ENTOMOPATHOGENIC FUNGI: DIVERSITY AND PECULIARITIES OF INTERACTIONS WITH INSECTS. (English)
    • Abstract:
Diversity and taxonomic position as well as life cycles of entomopathogenic fungi (EPF) are briefly reviewed. Insect body reaching by EPF, some cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the process, as well as specificity of fungus-insect interaction (EPF as generalists or specialists), comparative analysis of the interactions are presented. Data on diversity of EPF-insect interactions is indicated. Examples of well known mycotoxins produced by EPF as well as their molecular structures are presented. Strategies of EPF application in integrated pest management systems are reviewed, and examples of applications included. Commercial products based either on EPF or their mycotoxins are listed, including commercial names of the products as well as producers and target pest species. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
