      A biography of Samuel Newhouse, a businessman in the mining industries of Colorado and Utah, is presented. He was born in 1854 in New York City. He studied law before leaving for Leadville, Colorado to begin a freighting business and invest in mining interests. He financed the construction of several buildings in Salt Lake City, Utah. After he suffering heavy financial losses, he moved to France to live with a sister. He died there in 1930.
