- Abstract:
The article discusses the 1842 U.S. Supreme Court case "Prigg v. Pennsylvania," which resulted in the federal exclusivity regarding the rendition of fugitive slaves from free U.S. states to U.S. slave slaves. An overview of the Fugitive Slave Clause within the U.S. Constitution Article IV, Section 2 is provided. The role that the U.S. Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story played in the decision to "Prigg v. Pennsylvania" is discussed.
