The article presents a report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) which aims to determine the essential actions to improve federal oversight of facilities with ammonium nitrate. The role of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the regulation of facilities with ammonium nitrate. The approaches adopted by other countries in overseeing facilitates with ammonium nitrate are reviewed.
