- Abstract:
The article discusses ecology research by Daniela Canestrari at the University of Oviedo in Mieres, Spain, and colleagues, in the March 21, 2014 issue of "Science" magazine. The team found that chicks of the parasitic cuckoo bird (Clamator glandarius) release a caustic, stinking slime when threatened, thus benefiting chicks of the host carrion crow (Corvus corone corone) by reducing the risk of nest predation.
