The article discusses a study in a 2014 issue of "American Journal of Transplantation" by Allan Kirk of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and colleagues. Kirk's team used the drugs alemtuzumab and belatacept to reset the immune systems of kidney transplant recipients so that it tolerated their new kidney. Topics include the immune suppressing drug sirolimus, the treatment developed by Kirk's team, and the accessibility of alemtuzumab, which is made by Genzyme pharmaceutical company.
