An essay is presented which discusses the African American jazz musician Louis Armstrong's relationship with whites and his response to racial discrimination from 1930 through 1932. The song "I’ll Be Glad When You’re Dead, You Rascal You,” by Armstrong including its use in the film in which he was cast "A Rhapsody in Black and Blue," directed by Aubrey Scotto, is discussed. Armstrong's relationship with white authority, including in New Orleans, Louisiana is also discussed.
