      The author discusses aspects of Algerian politics on the controversial role of the secret services that spilled into the media and created an atmosphere of crisis and instability. He explores the reactions of the service through former senior army officer Hocine Benhadid on the mounting tension to destabilize the regime of president Abdelaziz Bouteflika. The author thinks that machinations in the political and military elites of Algeria was best described as two faces of the same coin.
