    • Abstract:
This article presents information on some recent socio-political developments. It is informed that in 1989 the Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers Union (O.C.A.W.U) polled its membership and discovered that 55 percent thought that Republicans and Democrats jointly represented the corporate interest. An identical percentage thought it was time to organize a new party in the interests of working people. The O.C.A.W.U checked with other unions across the spectrum of trades and services, and found similar numbers. So the union backed a long-term effort by its former head, Tony Mazzocchi, to try to build critical mass for the formation of a new labor party.
