      A biography is presented for Catholic Redemptorist bible scholar Louis Francis Hartman. He was born in the Bronx, New York City on January 17, 1901. He attended St. Mary’s College seminary in North East, Pennsylvania and Ilchester, Maryland, making his profession of vows in 1922, and being ordained in 1927. His aptitude for languages led him to graduate bible studies in both the U.S. and abroad. He taught at Mount St. Alphonsus Seminary from 1936 to 1948. He worked with the Catholic Biblical Association from 1948 until his death in 1970 on the "New American Bible."
