The article presents mass media news briefs related to nations of Africa as of January 2014. Topics discussed include quashing of certain media law provisions by the Constitutional Court of Burundi, the lifting of a ban on the newspaper "The Standard," and radio station "Teranga FM" by Yahya Jammeh, president of Gambia, and banning use of mobile internet and fibre optic by Al-Shabaab militants in certain areas of Somalia.
