      The article discusses the relationship between coalition building and professionalization in Brazilian feminist movements. According to the author, the professionalization of the mainstream feminist movement has exacerbated social and physical distances between feminist groups of different social classes. Particular focus is given to cross-class coalitions in the Brazilian women's health movement. Collective identity is also discussed.
