    • Abstract:
Researchers at the Univ. of Southern Calif. have mapped out the brain's so-called white matter "scaffold," which serves as a critical communications network. By also mapping out core white matter connections that have the greatest influence over other connections, researchers believe their insight into the brain's scaffold will reveal which connections are the most vulnerable to damage. The map could also help explain why some seemingly small head injuries produce serious side effects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
