The article discusses the U.S. history of public welfare reform, corruption, public sector unions, or government employee unions, and U.S. neoliberal policy from the 1960s through the early 2010s. An overview of public welfare reform efforts in Wisconsin, including in regard to to putting welfare recipients to work, or workfare, is provided. An overview of New York City, New York politics, including the former New York City Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani's effort to reduce the city's labor costs, is also provided.
