    • Abstract:
The article traces the history of the hotel alarm clock. The history can be traced back to 1340 B.C. when a desk clerk of the Luxor Suites Hotel failed to awaken Alexandrian grain merchant Memhotep who was always tardy for his meeting with Rekmos, grand vizier to Pharaoh Thott III. It mentions the introduction of digital alarm clocks by hotels worldwide in 1984 and the installation of Wake Up buttons on the room telephones by hotels in 1986.
