- Abstract:
The article profiles John Chafee, Governor of Rhode Island. Chafee was selected by the Republican party to challenge John Notte, the previous governor. After he was elected, Chafee built collegiate relations with the Democratic party, getting the respect of both parties. Chafee soon set his eyes on health care, hoping to improve the system by fixing the problems inherent in it. His efforts were put to the test when the President and Congress created the National Benefits Commission.
