- Abstract:
The ability of nerves to repair themselves diminishes with age. But a new Yale study found insulin plays a big part in nerve repair, suggesting nervous-system decline may not be inevitable. The researchers found genetic paths in C. elegans worms, used to model human genetic aging, that regulate insulin are active in repairing neuronal axons, connective branches like those in human nervous systems.
