The article describes the effect of a lightning bolt that hit a couple's house in Stamford, Connecticut in May 1999. Topics discussed include lightning's burning of the air it passes through, burn marks sustained by the house, and the destruction of electric appliances. Other types of damage sustained by the house that appeared weeks and months after the lightning strike are mentioned including pinhole leaks in the water pipes and anomalous behavior by clocks and the telephone.
