This article discusses the press coverage and controversies surrounding the discovery of a fossilized hominid named the Hombre de Orce, in Spain, over the period from 1983-2007. The author comments on the developments and advancements in the field of paleoanthropology during this period and describes the role of the Institut de Paleontología de Sabadell (Institute of Paleontology of Sabadell) in Barcelona, Spain, in the discovery of and research into the Hombre de Orce.
