    • Abstract:
      The 19th-century documentation preserved in the Archivio Storico of the Reggia di Caserta proved to be important background material for the rehabilitation of the historic rose garden, especially the inventories and the notes of the head gardeners and the directors of the English Garden. The inventories contain lists of all of the plants in the English Garden, including the varieties of roses cultivated. Seven inventories from the period between 1803 and 1873 and two notes written by the gardeners were examined in conjunction with the archival research. These documents were an inexhaustible font of both botanical and historical information. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
