The combined U.S. revenues of the biggest German chemical companies, BASF, Hoechst and Bayer, equal 5.4 billion dollars. It notes the German chemical companies' awareness that foreign competition leads to plant closings and can result in a resurgence of U.S. protectionism. Information on the financial performance of the German chemical firms is also presented. INSET: Keeping the workers happy.
