A Stakeholder Management Perspective on Military Health Care.

This article proposes a strategic stakeholder management approach for the management of military health care. Like its civilian counterpart, military health care is facing a growing crisis. Those responsible for managing the health care system are experiencing increasing pressure regarding access, quality, and cost. Because of existing pressures and impending changes, effective and efficient management will become increasingly critical and is likely to require new ways of thinking and leading. Specifically, health care stakeholders are those individuals, groups, and organizations who (a) have a stake in the decisions and actions of the organization and (b) may attempt to influence those decisions and actions.
