    • Abstract:
The article presents information on the quincentenary death of Lorenzo de Medici, ruler of Florence, Italy, in 1492. The quincentenary of Lorenzo de Medici's death in 1492 is a cause of much rejoicing across the way in Florence. Because Florence, as Lorenzo's biographer Vespasiano remarked, is "la cuta di Lorenzo," and Lorenzo was Magnificent. Non-Florentine historians have recently begun to suggest that there may be less to "il Magnifico" than once met the eye. A true magnifico would have built, not just given. Lorenzo seems to have been rather remiss in this respect.
