    • Abstract:
The article offers news briefs related to bird studies as of October 2013. It states that the report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) found that prevalence of Salmonella on young chicken carcasses has declined to 34% in the first quarter of 2013. In addition, a study found that cuckoos with striped feathers frighten away other birds from their nests. Moreover, decline in farmland birds number is caused by high rate of nest predation.
