    • Abstract:
The article discusses the technological interpretation of history by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. The term "materialist" was used by Marx and Engels in describing their theory. According to Marx, the three steps in the social process are changes in the technique of production, changes in the economic structure of society and changes in political, social and intellectual institutions. It is noted that Engels' statement of the theory differs from that of Marx, but he agrees in his emphasis on the technological basis of society.
