A literary criticism is presented which discusses the way in which Anglo-African former slave and abolitionist Ignatius Sancho published correspondence in "Letters of the Late Ignatius Sancho, An African" critiqued racist thought and through its chirography and typography. More specifically, the author investigates how Sancho utilized penmanship to undermine racist aesthetic theory in the letters. Consideration is also given to the published letters reception.
