    • Abstract:
The article reports that the corporate rating agency Fitch Ratings Ltd. on October 15, 2013 has placed the U.S. triple-A rating on negative rating watch. The decision has been taken in response to the plan of the U.S. Department of Treasury to finance government spending without raising the debt limit of 16.7 trillion U.S. dollars. Issues regarding the effect of the government shutdown and debt ceiling on the country's economy are also discussed.
