      A literary criticism is presented of the oral literature book "Through My Eyes," by the Aboriginal Australian Ella Simon. Particular focus is given to the book's depiction of cultural assimilation, including in regarding to the relations between Aboriginal Australians and Australian whites. An overview of the book's portrayal of Aboriginal Australians' family life and communities is provided.
