    • Abstract:
The article offers information on a debate held on August 6, 2013, at the U.S. Institute of Medicine in Washington D.C. in which gene therapists, bioethicists and lawyers debated over reshaping or abolishing the power of the Recombinant DNA Advisory Committee (RAC). It informs that the knowledge of the basic science along with clinical trials have demonstrated that gene transfer is no more risky than other new therapies.
