The article discusses the privacy implications of the U.S. National Security Agency's (NSA) PRISM project. The project taps into commercial online services to secretly collect metadata on Americans. It is said that metadata systems do no gather content but only tags and skeletal information. According to the author, the government can use metadata to engage in undetectable targeted repression. The author further points that metadata could be used as a political tool and to perfect deniable discrimination.
