The article focuses on a research regarding fescue's symbiotic partner and discusses the problem associated with fescue in the U.S. It informs that detrimental effects of fescue's symbiotic partner last longer than it was believed. It mentions that when cattle were removed from endophyte-infected tall fescue pastures, majority of ergot alkaloids were metabolized at a rapid rate. It also reports about 4 million acres of tall fescue that covers the Southeast area which has toxicity issues. INSET: The fescue problem keeps getting bigger.
