      El presente artículo estudia el uso de las fuentes informativas en la prensa gratuita en contraposición a la de pago mediante un trabajo de campo en el que se analizan dos semanas de prensa gratuita y de pago, lo que supone un total de 7.150 unidades informativas. Con esta investigación se pretende paliar la escasez de trabajos empíricos sobre los gratuitos. De los resultados se desprende que hacen un escaso uso de las fuentes informativas aunque los diarios de pago analizados, tradicionalmente considerados como medios de calidad, tampoco incluyen ninguna fuente informativa en más de un tercio de sus informaciones.       This article examines the use of sources in free daily press versus the paid press. We have carried out a quantitative content analysis of two weeks (7150 news items in total). We analysed the major newspapers of both types of media. The results show that the free press doesn't include any source in more than 50% of its news items and the called quality press studied (paid press) do the same in more than a third of its news.
