      The article discusses the roles of African Americans in the history of library science, educational technology and technology from the early 19th century through the early 21st century, frequently referencing articles within the issue. Topics, including the African American educator and political activist Booker T. Washington, the African American botanist, educator and inventor George Washington Carver, the historiography of African Americans and the history of African American libraries and library users, are discussed.
