    • Abstract:
The article responds to the article "Labor’s Economic Weapons: Learning from Labor History" by Joe Burns in the same issue, which argues that U.S. labor unions need to strike more frequently in order to rebuild their strength. Topics include the effects of labor law on strike frequency, the impact of the policies of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan on U.S. manufacturing jobs, and the importance of collective action in the future of the labor movement. It is said that the breaking of a strike by the U.S. Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO) took place within a context of economic turmoil.
