WIND ENERGY: Additional Actions Could Help Ensure Effective Use of Federal Financial Support.

The article reports on a study led by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the efforts taken by the Department of Energy (DOE) to help ensure effective use of federal funding for wind technologies. It examines the federal wind-related initiatives of DOE to assess the extent of any fragmentation and duplication of the initiatives. It suggests the need for DOE and the Department of Agriculture (USDA) to document whether the financial aid is needed for applicants' wind projects.
