- Abstract:
Implantology has become a science in recent decades, recording obvious progress, especially when it was demonstrated titanium osteointegration. Solving prosthetic stories which could be considered impossible or very difficult, today made possible a wide range of treatments with dental implants. Any material selected for making an implant must meet two basic criteria: biocompatibility and biofunctionality. This explains the concerns for the development of materials to meet both requirements (organic and functional), or cover biotolerated materials (metals, alloys and plastics) or bioinerte (ceramics based on Al2O3 and ZrO2) with thin layers of hydroxyapatite, in which kind support (substrate) gives the necessary mechanical properties prosthesis and coating biological properties, namely the ability to react chemically with living tissue. Implantologia a devenit în ultimele decenii o ştiinţă, înregistrând progrese evidente, îndeosebi de când a fost demonstrată osteointegrarea titanului. Rezolvarea protetică a unor cazuri care puteau fi considerate imposibile sau deosebit de dificile, a făcut astăzi posibilă o paletă largă de tratamente cu ajutorul implanturilor dentare. Orice material selectat pentru fabricarea unui implant trebuie să îndeplinească două criterii de bază: biocompatibilitatea şi biofuncţionalitatea. Aceasta explică preocupările fie pentru realizarea unor materiale care să îndeplinească ambele cerinţe (biologice şi funcţionale), fie acoperirea materialelor biotolerate (metale, aliaje şi mase plastice) sau bioinerte (ceramici pe baza de Al2O3 şi ZrO2) cu straturi subţiri de hidroxiapatită; în acest fel, suportul (substratul) conferă protezei proprietăţile mecanice necesare, iar stratul de acoperire proprietăţile biologice, respectiv capacitatea de a reacţiona chimic cu ţesuturile vii.
