    • Abstract:
Grain that could feed 100 people is used for fattening beef that will feed only about 10. But now, steers and sheep can thrive on corn stalks, cobs and wheat straw treated with diluted hydrogen peroxide. The solution separates lignin, a woody compound in the plants' cell walls, from cellulose, which can then be digested.
