    • Abstract:
The article examines censorship and its regulatory legislation in the Republic of Latvia from 1918 to 1934. Traditionally this period is considered as one of most free in the history of Latvia within the 20th century. However, even at that time there used to be censorship in Latvia. Most limited by censorship was the cinema. In a relatively smaller amount, it referred also to the press and a variety of entertainment events. Looking at the legislation regarding the press, cinema and organization of entertainment events, a tendency becomes clear: censorship and various restrictions in these areas began to rise already in the late 1920s - early 1930s, i.e. several years before the coup d'état organized by Kārlis Ulmanis. • Abstract:
Rakstā aplūkota cenzūra un to reglamentējošie normatīvie akti Latvijas Republikā no 1918. līdz 1934. gadam. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
