      The article discusses the role of new generation topical fluoroquinolones in the treatment of bacterial eye infections and the increasing bacterial resistance against the drug. It further mentions the action mechanism of drug, which is to inhibit the topoisomerase enzyme by blocking the bacterial DNA synthesis. It further presents a table of commonly prescribed topical fluoroquinolones including Ciprofloxacin and ofloxacin. It also presents suggestion for the recommendations of this drug.
