- Abstract: The article reports on the move of the Australian government to look into the allegations of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church in Australia. It cites prime minister Julia Gilliard appointing a national royal commission to investigate the alleged abuse in public and private institutions serving the youth. It adds that the pressure for a national commission has increased from abuse victims and some sections of the Australian media.
