      The article focuses on how the mass media on Hong Kong, China shifted its journalistic paradigms in China during the Tiananmen protests in 1989. It says that the Hong Kong press were united in condemning the Beijing, China regime of the Beijing massacre. It defines a journalistic paradigm as a set of gestalt world views which inform media as to what social facts to report and how to interpret the reports. It mentions that journalistic paradigms are shaped by social formations, which are the coalitions and state-society interpretations of dominant groups.
