- Abstract:
An interview is presented with U.S. obstetrician Lisa Harris. Particular focus is given to the October 28, 2012 death of Savita Halappanavar, an Irish woman who was denied an abortion despite complications from a severe septicemia infection. Harris discusses her experience treating a woman with a septic abortion in which a fetal heartbeat was detected. She argues that there are conscience and moral justifications for abortion.
