      The article discusses a study by researchers at the University of California, San Diego and Harvard Medical School that appeared in the August 31, 2012 issue of the journal "Science" in which a computer model was used to analyze the various enzymatic reactions that allow the bacterium Escherichia coli (E. coli) to survive. Topics discussed include the identification of generalist and specialist enzymes, promiscuity and monogamy among enzymes, and enzyme multitasking.
